Medium pyramid also known as the “False Pyramid” in matter of fact the first attempt to make a true pyramid; this is a mysterious and controversial of Why? How it was made? Who made it? And there are many contradictions concerning the structure of this pyramid.
Some studies show that this pyramid was started by Huni last pharaoh of the third dynasty father of Seneferu first pharaoh of the fourth dynasty. He was son of Huni but in a secondary wife, he even married his sister to be the rightful heir of the throne, but how he forms anther family or dynasty is a little confusing.
Some attribute this pyramid to Huni and credit Seneferu as the one who finished the pyramid; others say that was only Seneferu the responsible of the pyramid, because the region where this pyramid stands belonged to Seneferu and his family from his mother side and even some say that probably the pyramid was intended as his mother tomb.
Others are in doubt if the pyramid was ever made for burial purposes do to the fact that no sarcophagus was found and that the disposition of things are different if it was meant for funerary purposes.
Even the orientation suffered estrange changes, there are son indications concerning the cosmological alignment changes concerning the orientation of the building, the earliest step pyramid at Sakkarah was based on mastaba design, they are rectangular and aligned to the north south axis. Medium pyramid has a square base, some things maintain that same axis as the mastabas but some others are aligned in the east west axis fallowing the sun trajectory.
These axis changes were not changes just esthetics changes it was a whole philosophical and religious matter behind.
Eventually his son Kheops builder of the “Great Pyramid” did changed the axis and other concepts, reason why he moved close to Heliopolis the sun worship city away from Memphis that was more related to the god Ptah and rituals relating to resurrection. His strong shift toward sun worship brought some resentment because was too hard for some people to change so drastically.
The controversial continues, in relation as if it was a failure or a great attempt, stories tell that the casing fell down and buried all the workers that were at the place, others ponder the place.
But the facts show that it has a height of more than 90 metes, original planed as a seven step pyramid to be filed later with a casing that gives it the final look of true pyramid. Much of the controversial is because of the material around the pyramid that appear as it had collapsed but most likely it has to do with the method of construction and the fact that later people took advantage of the material, using the pyramid as a quarry; during the intermediate period the pyramid was totally abandoned and some people moved there and used as shelter o habitation purposes.
